Thirty-two years after the first Whole Earth Festival here at Davis in 1970, we can definitively say that humanity has passed the point of no return. Now we have to make a choice - for the Earth or for destruction. We either return now to living again in the cycles of nature and the universe, or we forfeit our right to a future here on Earth. The fate of the future of the Earth must now return to the hands of the people - for the people is all we really are. Everything else is a fiction and a smoke screen meant to keep the mind enslaved. Since the leaders haven't listened, and since war still consumes the economy and threatens the future of life on earth; and since the environment - our terrestrial biosphere - is overstressed, and the profiteers are still looking for another market, it is time for the people to take back their time. It is time for the people to declare a new time of Peace on Earth where there will be war no more, nation states no more, taxes no more - but oneness with nature forever. Yes, it is time for the people to take back the Earth, not to possess it but to protect it and prevent any further damage and destruction from the hands of the foolish humans trapped in their conception of artificial time. Ironically, ever since the Whole Earth Festival began, the interests of the Whole Earth have been placed on a far back burner with a flame so dim there is nothing it can cook. We have seen thirty-two years of the other way, the way that said that the idea of the Whole Earth is not profitable, that Woodstock Nation is for fools who won't make money, and that war is peace and peace is war. Yes, we have seen 32 years of that way of money and greed and thinking that what's good for General Motors, Microsoft and McDonald's is good for the planet. But what we've got instead is war and insecurity and fear and terror. And to all of this we say at last NO MORE. The restoration of Whole Earth values and placing them at the forefront of all human activities is the only way we'll get the whole human to be matched in wholeness with the whole Earth. The cultivation of whole Earth values is the only way we will save ourselves a seat on the planetary showboat of future evolution. This is a spiritual thing. It's not about money but the spiritual value of life and the human fulfillment through art and culture, not war and profits. When we say spiritual we mean universal spirituality. We don't care if you are a Buddhist, a Christian, a Muslim or a Hindu - if you are not out there on the planetary streets trying to talk to each other and figure out what you've got in common, the whole Earth will reject and spit out your partial spirituality.
Only a new time will guarantee the return of genuinely spiritual whole Earth values as everyday consciousness. Only a mind established in a new calendar of harmony and peace will be able to make the change to whole Earth values on a daily basis. >> this article continues. read more >> << back << |
