Dreamspell Kit's Galactic Compass, please help me

Greetings, Kin.

I'm in a bit of a jam. Does anyone have this same dreamspell kit? I bought it from 13moon.com
http://13moon.com/products.htm#dreamspell

I'm having trouble understanding the instructions to use the galactic compass to decode a date. I've decoded dates on this website and then tried doing it myself with the galactic compass in the kit. Using the galactic compass, I got the same results as this website's decoder for my own birthday. But when I tried to decode another date, I got different results than the what this website (and all the other online calculators/decoders I found) gave me. The date is 4/26/1989. According to the online decoders, the galactic signature of this date is Red Planetary Skywalker. However, when I used the galactic compass in the kit, I got Red Resonant Skywalker.

At first I questioned the accuracy of the online decoders for this particular date. But maybe it's just me not using the galactic compass right. I get confused on the 2nd part of Step 4. I hope someone can help me figure this out.

Step 4 says
Finding the Correlate Date: On the green ring, find the correlate date closest to the date you seek. Note the tone on the yellow ring immediately below the correlate date.

Follow the yellow ring counterclockwise to the correlate date. If the yellow ring goes blank before the correlate date, find tone seven.

This is the part where I'm confused. "Follow the yellow ring counterclockwise to the correlate date." The correlate date I'm using is 5.02 because that seems to be the closest to 4.26

First of all, we've already noted the tone on the yellow ring for the correlate date so to follow the yellow ring to the correlate date means what? If it means starting from the correlate date and going all the way around the yellow ring to get back to the correlate date, then the yellow ring will always go blank because there aren't tones in every space. So does that mean for Step 4 you will always use tone 7? If that's the case, then I wonder why don't the directions just say from the start to use tone seven for step 4.

When I used tone 7 for my birthday I got the same results as this website gave me, but using tone 7 for 4/26/1989 I got different results. I've done this over and over again and this is the only step I can think I may have messed up at since I don't quite understand the "follow the yellow ring counterclockwise to the correlate date" part. Can anyone help me so I can know for sure whether 4/26/89 is red planetary skywalker or red resonant skywalker?

compass is right

The instructions are hard but come back after a cuppa and read it again. On my campass you move the White ring not the yellow.

compass is accurate

been using the compass for lots of years... the only caution is that you cant work backwards if youre close to july 26... you have to work forwards into the new year...

i would have to get the compass in front of me to follow along with your process, and i'm typing at the library right now...

if you get the idea that all the correlate dates will be the same sign every 20 days during the year, then it's a little more understandable...

and, yes, all aspects of the dreamspell adventure and all the questions are really really frustrating when trying to figure them out... and that's because I WANT IT TO WORK SO SO BAD!!!! and it always has.

Now, I know.

Well I figured it out for 4/26/1989. I used the method on page 11 of this pocket calendar pdf: http://www.tortuga.com/eng/calendar/magneticmoon/pocket_calendar.pdf

And the result is indeed kin 153 aka Red Planetary Skywalker. However, I'm still confused about the galactic compass. I tried matching up the year 1988's seal which is Blue Storm with every tone on the compass and none of them give tone 10 for red skywalker. So I guess it's the compass' design that's wacked out. I won't be using it anymore.
